Julie Mason

For more than thirty years, I’ve been chasing the moment a scene stops you in your tracks. 

I work primarily in oils, painting landscapes that convey that spark of recognition long enough to hand it to someone else. The desert is where I find that passion most often. There’s something about a saguaro standing alone against a brilliant sky that feels like it’s been waiting decades just to be truly seen and honored! 

The largest piece I’ve ever created wasn’t on canvas at all — it was a life-size fiberglass horse, auctioned to benefit the Scottsdale Rotary Club, proof that the urge to capture a moment doesn’t always stay inside a frame.

A graduate of the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, my work has shown across Colorado and Arizona, and I’m a member of the Sonoran Arts League and the San Tan Artists Guild. I’m thrilled to bring my work now to the Gold Canyon Art Gallery. 

I paint because something caught me off guard. I hope it does the same for you!
